How Black Soap is Made?
Shea Terra take black soap powder and cook it with modern hydroxide in order to make a hard bar. It maintains many of African Black Soap’s properties but has lots of nourishing oils like olive and shea butter. Real African black soap is not made in Vermont. It is made in remote African villages by women who have passed down the secret of black soap making for centuries.
African Black Soap is a 100% pure botanical soap, unlike all other forms of soap which require lye. Ladies in the villages use local plantain and cacao pods to produce ash for their soap. They then cook in locally made oil and cook until the soap is completely black. This produces a soap which is more sulfuric.
