Balaleet is a traditional dish in the Gulf (the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, etc) that incorporates sweet and salty elements. Balaleet is usually eaten for breakfast.
How to Use
1- Remove butter from fridge to soften, soak saffron in rose water, and prepare the pasta (add 6 cracked cardamom pods to water).
2- Strain pasta when almost cooked, then toss with softened butter, cardamom, syrup, and rose water.
3- Reduce heat and cover until the rose water, and maple syrup is absorbed.
4- Meanwhile beat the egg fritter ingredients, and sauté 1/4 cup at a time in a little butter until golden on both sides. The circular egg fritters should be layered on top of the pasta in the pot and served.
